I finally got Jake to back up the stuff on my computer and install Linux (specifically, Ubuntu.) The original plan also involved trying to get Windows to run inside of Ubuntu, that way I would still have access to some software that isn’t available for Linux, namely, iTunes and Adobe products. But, that didn’t work. Ah, well. I still plan on getting a Mac, a) for the portability of having a laptop, and b) because they are just cool. I am very excited about having Linux, however.

Keeping in line with the techy/geekness of this post, I started feeling rather ambitious last night. I decided that I want to learn some programming languages, and really master a couple with which I can make my own vector program. Yes, this is probably going to be a 10 year, or longer, project. I don’t know the first thing about making something like this (well, maybe the first thing, but not the second or the third.) I have been meaning to start learning a programming language, and just more about the delicacies of the computer, and this gives me a purpose, something to work towards. Every time I talk with Jake about something like this, or I see him do something with his computer, I realize just how little I know. This is a little daunting, but we shall see.
